YEK
for the most part i think i like 6-11 more than 1-5, if only 5 was included (5-11). always a good listen though, the analord series... edit: also besides my love for W32.mydoom.au@mm i really like Backdoor.Spyboter.A Edited June 21, 2010 by yek Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide YEK's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents !:/music Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/57346-analord-6-11/#findComment-1356256 Share on other sites

I sometimes wish this had been released in '86 and become one of the templates of techno. Guest iamabe
oh god. 6-11. so much glory. lisbon acid is the shit. W32.Deadcode is some of the most sublime afx there is. those mellow pads, the gated drums, that fucking bassline. not to mention fenix funk is the perfect preview for rushup edge. 2:55 - the drop at 3:08, oh man so much anticipation. 3:08 - 3:20 when those fucking crazy bells come in. mind is blown 4 times. fenix funk has to be my favorite analord but it's the least like the rest of the tracks in analord. it's waaay more tuss than afx. masterful shit! See, I think this is the one thing I almost feel a bit bitter about with Analord. (I don't, but it'd head in that direction if the rest of the music hadn't since grown on me so much.) Fenix Funk 5 is much like the faster tracks from Drukqs and Rushup Edge. It sits perfectly between them, and you can see RDJ's been headed in a consistent direction, pushing his music further with all these intricate details. That kind of thing takes a lot of time and effort, and that's a large part of why I like and respect his music so much. And it's the first track on Analord 10, the first Analord to be released, and also the opening track to Chosen Lords. So you think "wow, 11 whole EPs of this!" and then get them all, and you're hit over the head with monstrosities like the Midievil Raves. Most tracks seem to be between these two extremes: still good, and dark and broody, but they don't sound like they took anywhere near Fenix Funk 5's amount of effort to make. So it's a bit of a con in that respect. Before you run me up a tree and set fire to it, I do still like most of the Analord tracks, but they can be a bit hit and miss, whereas Fenix Funk 5 is one of the peaks of his output in my opinion, right up there with Rushup I Bank 12. Dragon
The track "W32.Aphex@mm" from Analord 09 was originally set to be replaced with another track, "W97M.MJ", because it sounded too similar to the previous track, "Trojan.KillAV.E". For unknown reasons, "W97M.MJ" was never released and now the final version of Analord 09 has two tracks that sound very similar. I'm Self Employed is like richard's modest little anthem and is nostalgic as hell. the rest are good but i can't be arsed to elaborate analord 07 - love all of it to death - amazing BEATS, some of the best. the acid tracks. analord 08 - most complete-feeling ep behind 02, and also the most ambient influenced behind 02. deadcode and berbew are my favoites here. PWSteal is beautifully out of place in this one, one of my favorite dance-house tracks. analord 09 - i NEED this vinyl. 4 ass-kicking, rip-roaring, raw energy-spewing rave tracks that don't let up. love it to bits, netshadow is masterful and Bancos with that synth and the drum-ticks kills me every time. analord 10 - 10/10 Aphex Twin E.P. it's almost depressing, how he just throws these 2 masterpieces at you like it's nothing, like how many more do you have lying around?!? analord 11 - Mydoom reminds me of a UFO playing super spun out ET techno music, then abducting you, thus resulting in your doom. VBS.Redlof is cry-worthy it's so beautiful, it's literally perfect. backdoor.ranky makes me comfortably numb, a perfect way to end the series.
