Sublimit

Wow I listened to this really loud at the gym today and it sounded like I never heard it before. Untilted is by far my favorite ae album but for some reason sublimit never took. I think it was those stabs that always threw me off? What an ass I feel like now! It's up there with ipacial and lcc if not better. What was I thinking? Why did it take so long? Their best album just got even better for me.

what about pro radii and augmatic disport?

They are part of the best 4 track sequence in the ae catalog. If fermium were replaced by an ambient interlude, the album iwould be a 10/10

best track on untilted imo. i've said it before and i'll say it again, definitely one of ae's prog tracks.

For some reason I also didn't fall in love with sublimit until later. Not sure why... the song is killer!

The album could just be those 4 tracks and it'd still be my favorite release.

On a side note, I am still unsatisfied with most of Untilted's production, specially The Trees, a track that could have been way superior if they had managed to push the bass up.

Same thing happened to me. I was never a big fan of their harsher albums, Just not my cup of tea. 2 weeks ago I played Sublimit via youtube and I was gobsmacked on how good it was, in actual fact the postman delivered the vinyl about 15 minutes ago!

Autechre are definately on another level when it comes to making music that you might dislike at first and then suddenly blows your head off. I think thats part of what makes them special. Never dismiss any track they have made.

Sublimit is fucking magical. How a beat centric track can remain that dynamic and interesting over a 16 minutes runtime just screams genius to me.

Sublimit has been the standout for me on Untilted since day 1. It just oozes what I consider Autechre.

that percussion build at the end is just fucking ace. i've never heard anything like that pulled off with such perfection.

this track took a while for me to love it too. now it's probably my 2nd fave on untilted, after pro radii.

Yes, I love Sublimit too. Listened to it the other day for the first time in ages, and there was a whole lot going on that I'd never noticed before. I find that's a mark of AE's best tracks.

My name's Phil, and I have an unhealthy obsession with Autechre (fave albums: Chiastic Slide, Amber, Untilted, Oversteps) but otherwise don't listen to much IDM; I'm buying more dark psytrance than anything else at the moment (anybody else love Kindzadza?). Live near London. I have a PhD in physics, and am therefore unemployed.

Great track. Took a long time to click with me too, now possibly my favorite on the album.

similar story, similar outcome.

always been attracted to the longer songs in what ever type of music,

and even then this one was an acquired taste, but well worth it in the end.
