i want to record the audio of videos and radio on the internet and into ableton live. how can i configure things to do this? thanks

i dont believe you can set your wave out mix to and input in Live...but would like for someone to prove me wrong

If you have a mac and have sound flower, you can make your main output be soundflower and record directly into Ableton. I do this sometimes to sample iTunes radio. Personally tho, I get fed up with changing my adapter all the time, so I just use Wire Tap Pro for such things these days, but its entirely possible.

so guess what?!

i was reading the internet, and discovered this:

"here what to do, Start, all programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume control, click options, click properties, check box [Recording], now make sure [stereo Mix] is checked then click Ok, check box [stereo Mix] and exit, now open any audio recording software such as M$ sound recorder, hit record and you're recording any thing that comes out of your speakers"

worked like a charm

thanks for the help guys

Unless of course you have an audio interface that doesn't support Stereo Mix/Wave Out/What U Hear etc. like my Echo Audiofire in which case you've got to use something like Total Recorder (if anyone knows of a [legally] free alternative to Total Recorder I'd be insanely grateful !)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Hello, guys. i personally think Total recorder and audacity work well. These applications rip internet radio and any sound that comes from your sound card. You actually can do this. I think Vista will do this, i know you can in Win 7. If you rightclick your audio settings(spkr in taskbar) select recording devices if you select your skype input or similar audio mix option with a right click then select properties, hit the listen tab and select the audio output, like system sound or stereo mix, and use the level adjustments to gte it right. You might need to be careful with levels to reduce feedback into your desktop speakers.
