are you talking about the liveact when he brought his equipment to or are you talking about the one that was on discogs showing him sitting in front of his mac

dag NABBIT.

If you're talking about the 12th photo down on this page:

http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?artist=Aphex+Twin

CORRECT link this time

(the only one with a Mac in it as far as I can see)

That's a publicist's office. Release schedule on wall, promo photos, packets of press clippings, promotional postcards taped to the filing cabinet - never seen a recording studio that looked like that. Also, the tortured expression on Mr. Twin's face = total "OMG I have to talk to IDIOTS about my rekkid oh noes"

agree, the only picture besides the live one that seems to show his studio is this:

side+b.jpg

have you seen the original analord cover artworks that leaked when rephlex.com was changed to a shop?

some of the cover artworks have much higher resolution as if they where stock images while others had very low resolution. I wonder if they really are all pictures taken from his equipment

definitely an Amiga in that shot, no idea whether it's an Amiga 500 or 1200 though. definitely that formfactor.

Richard's a pretty good photographer; I can't imagine him using lo-res images for the covers unless they were re-processed by someone else for rephlex.com.

NONE of the images are stock; that I am sure of. Richard likes to personalize his releases with his photos (see SAW II, DrukQs, etc.)

I would tend to think it'd be the other way around - that he'd be more likely to have a larger/higher quality file of an original photo. (Unless some of the photos were taken with digital cameras, and some with film cameras and were just lo-res scans)

Anyway, didn't think it could possibly be the image that Chris posted about because that is so clearly not a Mac.

THIS is the only 90s-era pic I could find of him with a *Mac* and this is TOTALLY a publicist's office, not a studio.

How can you be sure that's a 90's era pic? Sure, the Mac(s) might be from the late 90's, but the VAIO he's using is NOT from the 90's at all.

Also, why would he have his laptop with him in a publicist's office?

he's sampling the sound of warp laughing all the way to the bank

/

maybe he gets a really juicy reverb from that orange carton :braindance:

actually, that blates looks like it's been photoshopped in, and the real pic is him sat on the bog or something

I take my laptop with me pretty much everywhere. Don't you? Or at least I did before I got an iPhone.

Email or chat interviews is the main reason I'd have had my laptop in my publicist's office. Wait, I lie - that and ripping MP3s of the other bands they handle. Can't remember if Warp have an in-house publicist or if they use a PR firm.

Anyway, it might not be 90s - but it's clearly not a very recent pic as he's got long hair. :cisfor:
