Guest El_Chemso
I know I'm not the only fan here, this was my first ever proper computer game, and it was the only other FPS/RPG I've ever played other than half life series. If the new one is 1% as good as the original was I'll be buying it. I hope they include some of the old sound track as that was brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FRWYRqaGFE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1oxIrAX39M Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/57532-deus-ex/ Share on other sites
Dementia
Can't say enough about this game. This was my life in 7th and 8th grade and yeah, the soundtrack can be listened to outside of the game (one of the best). I was sorely disappointed with the release of Invisible War, so I too am hoping for a redeeming 3rd installment. Guest Drahken
I've been playing this lately after finding the CD mixed in with a stack of music! Just finished up the Hong Kong missions. Definitely at the top of the list of favorite games. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/57532-deus-ex/#findComment-1361925 Share on other sites

Guest alky
question. unreal tournament actually used tracker files for it's soundtrack. you can open them in modplug tracker and view the compositions, rip the samples, edit the tracks, everything. deus ex music sounds extremely similar... anyone tried this? I was playing it with modplug and it worked. But then I converted it to mp3. Warren Spector was a father of the first game. The best computer game ever made in my opinion. There is simply no better. Even Half-Life falls on second spot. I'm kind of worried for Warren was not invited to DE3 project... I played Bioshock, but thought it was a bit poo so didn't get further in than a few levels. I hope they don't put scary bionic animals in this one, as they really scared me in the original! TwiddleBot
Deus ex was such a great game, can't think of a storyline that well-crafted in other video games that comes remotely close. It became eerily relevant a year after I played it when New York got hit for reals ;) I gave up on the series after playing a few hours of the second game though.. Spector had already stepped down from leading the project or so he said in an interview and I bet that's why. Anyone played the game Spector made before Deus Ex.. System Shock 2? Pretty dated now but quite awesome for the time.. the background ambiances for some chunks of the game sounded like tuned pieces of scraping metal (making up hints of notes+melody) or something.. really sweet Edited June 29, 2010 by TwiddleBot Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide TwiddleBot's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/57532-deus-ex/#findComment-1362080 Share on other sites

No way, really? What's a good free tracker? They stopped using the umx file format after the first engine though. I think UT2003 and onward are like OGG Vorbis. Guest Drahken
Its hard to say if the new game will be any good. Not having Warren could make it a flop, but SquareEnix being involved has me hopeful. Plus they are jumping backwards in the theme timeline which will hopefully keep the story realistic instead of getting too up its ass futuristic. That is one thing I really loved about the first one, just about every aspect of the story had some connection to real history or conspiracy theories and wasn't too far fetched in their vision of the future. modey
hands down the best game i've ever played. the hong kong mission is amazing. i really enjoyed the second one as well. once you get used to the cartoony, sluggish unreal 2 engine, it's actually pretty good. Guest El_Chemso
So its only a 2 weeks away according to Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Deus-Ex-Human-Revolution-Xbox/dp/B003O85LW2/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1298260952&sr=1-4 If it lives up it will be great. The 5 min movie they released looked good, and the giant hole in the sea looked interesting. Guest Babar
There used to be a game called Deus back in the days from the MSDOS era. You were a spatial explorer who crashed on an unexplored planet, and you basically had to survive and build different stuffs in order to send a radio signal to your HQs. This game was awesome because it was very realistic : you could break your legs (and become virtually dead from this moment on); get bitten by a snake (you only had a few seconds to fix this), or die from dehydration ( and start seeing hallucinations). There was a medical-console to deal with these various problems and you could get attacked by pterodactyles and even lose an eye (half of the screen'd get covered with blood). Awesome.
