Sea Shanties

are sea shanties a proper genre?

if so, what are some good ones?

i want to hear a sea shanty so gritty and vivid that I can imagine what it is like to be an old large white bearded man who almost dies everytime he goes out to catch his squids or whatever. Plus he lives in a hut ontop of a cliff.
