As much as it would initially disappoint me, it would make me want to laugh in the faces of all the BoC fanboys/fangirls. And, dare I say it, perhaps I would be justified in doing so?

I wonder how long it would take people to generally realize and accept that there will be no more Boards of Canada music (except maybe a random track or two on future Warp compilations).

I mean, there's been no news for so long and people still think another album is coming.

BoC fans are thirsty for the blood of all those on Sesame Street.

i would be happy if sesame street never existed, but i'm not a huge fan of BoC.

i like a fair bit of their stuff, love some of it, but there's other stuff i like a lot more,

and if i listen to BoC too much i get a bit sick of it. in moderation i like them a lot.

I doubt much will happen. I've never heard of any really violently obsessed BoC fans. People will bitch and moan on forums - and that's probably it.

Is it even planned? Sure a PR guy/close friend to them says so, but really? Do you see WARP Records actually pushing an upcoming release?

How many "friends" or mananger of artists in the history of music ended up bullshiting everybody? Too many to count. Just go with all major rock artists which stopped doing records (from Bowie to Pink Floyd), the myths are still going strong. Unless you die, people will always expect you to release something creatively.

Just ask J.D. Salinger.

human after all to ??? = 5 years and counting

i mean, i could go on, but i don't feel like googling popular artists and looking for gaps in their discographies. do it yourselves so you can get the reassurance that boc hasn't dropped off the face of the planet.

RDJ released Come to Daddy in 1997 and Windowlicker in 1999 in between RDJ album and drukqs. Bad example.

BoC released an ep over 4 years ago. Oh, and a song. All really good though.

I think I might still manage to drag myself out of bed each day if The Sandisons have squeezed their last few bob out of me. I bought records before BoC existed after all.

Okey dokey. But he does have a point.

I am sure your NIN example needs further scrutiny too. As I am sure Mr Reznor would of released a modicum of news about his impending release. I doubt NIN fans sat in total silence for 6 years and heard nothing. You know like a lot of rock bands do, they thank their fans for their support and give them the thumbs up. Not only that, NIN would of toured the world for perhaps a couple of years. Yeah the BoC world tour took up a few years didn't it?

No way can you can compare 6 years from NIN making the DS to the Fragile to BoC's silence.

Especially since NIN released "Things Falling Apart EP", "We're in this Together EP", "And All that Could have Been", the "Still" album, plus Trent maintaining a constant feedback with his fans over the years between those two albums.

Oh and they fucking toured The Fragility in over 75 cities. BOC can't even play live.

But again like all WARP artist they must keep some sort of mythical bullshit anonymity.

I think it's more a matter of BoC not wanting to play live rather than they can't, as they did previously. Besides, how much does live show touring for an electronic act benefits them financially/promotional-wise? Not much I'd think, which is probably why Richard does DJ sets more than playing as himself and playing his own music.
