Smells like Tri Repetae

(Just coincidentally timed with the other Tri 3 E thread)

OK so the other day my friend and I are hanging out and I remembered that about.. 11 years ago.. Getting the Tri Repetae++ double CD set and opening it up. It had quite possibly one of the oddest chemical odors of any CD I've ever purchased. I actually associate that smell with opening up the Tri Repetae jewel case. I think one of my friend's copies of the album had that odor to it as well initially. I wonder if it was a matter of the ink, something to do with the pressing, or completely random.

Did anyone else who bought the north American version of this album stumble upon this olfactory peculiarity as well?

actually, yeah. and i bought it used from a weird pennsylvania flea market, around 2002. still had a certain unique smell inside the case.

Now I want to go home and sniff it.

I ate my CD and I must admit it actually has a curious taste.

I sort of vaguely remember Tri Repetae ++ smelling like Bhopal 1984, now that you mention it.

don't remember it having a scent, but my memory is terrible.

however, my copy of Sonic Youth's Washing Machine still smells the same...they used some weird kinda of paper for the booklet, and even though it's around 15 years old, it smells just the same.

smell livess in a deeper, older part of the brain

that's the IDM. tri rep is so IDM that it smells like IDM.

I thought this thread was going to be about an Autechre/Nirvana mash up track.

Sniffed it. Mine smells like a normal CD. But i,ve had it for so long... It could have faded by now.

i enjoy the smell of new plastic shower curtains. the cat5 from my ez-flo carton of cat5 smells the same way. i recall 2600 magazine smelling nice. these days i cannot smell things as much, my boss told me to stop.

autechre are so IDM that their cds smell.
