Read he was talking to a number of people at a number of companies, got $300,000 per episode after sweet talking an executive. He can do whatever he wants in his standup and apparently has complete creative control over his show, a rarity these days.

Still haven't seen it, but it prolly beats most of the junk out there.

Anybody ever seen Seinfeld do standup? By comparison, the TV show is the funniest thing in the history of funny things. Seinfeld is/was a total fucking fraud. He was awful on his eponymous sitcom and even worse as a standup comic.

Not bad! I haven't seen his show (so far as I know...probably have seen it), but yeah, this is some funny shit. It's not often I see recent stand-ups who I actually like beyond a few shot-in-the-dark laughs. I was watching Bill Hicks Revelations last night in lamentation. Will definitely check out more Louis CK.

There is plenty of good reasons in the FX show thread stating why his show is kinda disappointing far beyond comparing it to his the vastly superior stand up. It has the potential to be a lot better and I hope it somehow achieves that despite like we have said the ideas for the show are a cluster fuck of this to that with no string to tie them together (which requires that each idea be funny enough to stand up (no pun intended) on its own)((and they usually don't) it definitely doesn't seem like there's a vast storage facility of ideas for this show has in the first 3 episodes hes had to borrow so many things from shit he's done before(and not just his stand up). For instance the girl flying away on the helicopter bailing on their first date. Looked exactly the same as the video where he reiterates a stand up skit show him smashing a kids ice cream cone and then getting away on a heli from the exact same looking NY harbor looking area I believe.

Anyway I am not a pessimist, I do a pretty damn good job at not letting hype or expectations ruin a experience. I do my very best to enjoy things for their positives rather than just frown & point out the flaws like most people on the internet these days... But I simply have not the ability to watch this show and not be at least slightly disappointed at all times. I wish that wasn't the case.

He's definitely one of my favorites. I was actually on the stage crew for his 'Chewed Up' special. It was filmed at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston.

I was referring to his old show, "Lucky Louie", where he rehashed his stand-up bits into sitcom format. Always seemed really forced to me, even when stoned. I guess maybe if you haven't seen his standup that shit would be fresh.

I haven't seen his new show beyond the trailer someone posted here. SO can't comment on that.

Although watching that clip, now I know where matt stone and trey parker got the idea for their original openers on South Park.

I loved the last episode.

The bit about going from "Dad" to "dude" when his daughters turn 18 was sad, funny, a bit poignant.
