Never read any of his comics but I enjoyed the film american splendor. was just reading an interesting exchange between him and douglas rushkoff.. need to check out his letterman appearances.

I read one of the American Splendor anthologies, at first I didn't really get it but about half way through it I really started to like it. He seemed like an alright guy, really grumpy but still.

After seeing the movie, and now that youtube clip, it makes me really dislike David Letterman.

Yeah, this bummed me out. Pekar's one of my favorites. Plus, the Entertainment Weekly obituary had some pretty stupid writing. Clearly this man deserved better.

that magazine on the whole is fucking laughable so no surprise there. and yet i still read it

What was interesting is he never illustrated his graphic novels himself; always had another illustrator do it (like R. Crumb, etc.).

Guy had an interesting view on life.
