Oval - Ringtone EP

Electronic deconstructionist Markus Popp/Oval recently released the first new Oval material in over a decade in Oh, the Thrill Jockey 12″ that sold out its pressing of 1,000 in pre-order. I guess there were some Oval fans out there waiting for some new stuff, huh? What’s more, they can rejoice yet again, because on September 7th, Thrill Jockey will release Oval’s new 70-track double-album, O. The album comes in 4 different covers, and Oval is slated to play some rare performances in support of the new record in Europe, Japan, and North America.

In the meantime, Mr. Popp has put together a FREE EP, featuring non-album tracks from the O sessions. It’s called Ringtones, and you can download it right here from Thrill Jockey

haven't tried this yet, but already have it.

i didn't like oh ep and i don't like the current approach of oval's music. but maybe that will change with a couple more listenings.

i just don't like the idea of Popp using the same synth sound on every song. It's not a guitar, check out physical modeling string synthesis like 'Tension' with Abelton live

I didn't think "over a decade" seemed quite right. I checked, it wasn't.
