Most people don't know Moog's headquarters are in a sleepy little art town in the mountains of North Carolina...

This year their going all out with their annual party... Presented by AC Entertainment, the people who produce Bonnaroo...

Should be a high quality production with serious artists...

Let's see who else they add to the lineup...

Asheville is like the opposite of sleepy little mountain town =D. It's a vibrant and very big city. Quite spread out. Tis awesome.

Your probably right that it's not "Sleepy"... Theirs stuff going on in the art's and such for as small as it is... No crime rate... Very little public transportation...

I would barely call it a city... Let alone a BIG city(lol) It's definetly not spread out... It's a mountain town...

Trust me I grew up there...

Yeah I meant to say town and not city. The spread out parts I'm talking of I guess aren't technically part of Asheville, but I consider them part of the Asheville experience. All the same, it's one of my favorite places to go, used to go there at least once a month during the warmer parts of the year. The roads there when covered in ice are scary as hell. Especially going down towards the river, where Moog used to be.

Boone I would say is sleepy as far as the downtown area goes, but there's still a lot going on there too. But asheville is always popping. I love the town "square", always a lot going on there. I'm seriously missing that place right now. So far away in Texas =(

But yeah, I've always wanted to go to some Moog events there, especially when they've had concerts at the Orange Peel. Never made it to one though. I know there's the museum going on there now. I saw Squarepusher at the Orange Peel, perfect venue for him. Seen lot's of good shows there.

autechre boys played orange peel years back as well - the sound system is massive!

i'm on the east coast for business right now and may extend my trip for moogfest if the lineup proves to be juicy enough.

Yeah I remember when Autechre came through. I decided I would rather sleep in my bed, comfy, than sleep at the Autechre show.

Troon in Asheville. :wtf:

maybe - right now i'm a bit busy here in dc and i have many things that are pulling at me on the west coast so it's just a matter of how drawn i am by

play list and how much time i end up actually having end of october. massive attack is a start - but it will take more to get me in the moog

The peel was a little after my time there... I hear Rolling Stone Mag put it in the top 5 live music venues in the country... :snares:

I used to regulary be caught in line with Bob Moog at the food co-op... He drove this little beat up car with dragons painted on top

I know there's a million of them in Asheville, but I love the food co-op right across the street from the orange peel. good times.

I was there twice and for numerous days when Smashing Pumpkins did their 2 weeks worth of shows there. It was awesome. There was a great buzz around the town. Met so many cool people. Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Really Jones'n for some Asheville teimzsz.

If this is the Moogfest I'm thinking off, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I bought a DVD once upon a time called "Moogfest 2006" and thought, 'hey, should be fun'. OH MY FUCKING GOD! It was nothing but Jordan Rudess noodling like a FUCKING WANKER on TOTALLY UNINTERESTING patches and then some shit-eating cocksucking band that Jan Hammer was part of and IT WAS THE WORST FUCKING MUSIC I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE. Can you imagine the worst application of the Moog instrumentation? NO! NO YOU CAN'T! NOT UNLESS YOU'VE SEEN THIS FUCKING HORRIBLE DVD.

You want to know what the big ass shit-covered cherry on top was? Bernie Worrell DIDN'T EVEN FUCKING PLAY A MOOG!!!! He played on a Kurzweil electric piano--and lamely at that. His nephew is DJ Logic and I NEVER KNEW A TURNTABLIST COULD BE SO BOOOOOOORING. The Bernie Worrell section was just like 10 minutes of Christian Bale ah-duh-duh-duh with DJ Logic scratching THE SAME 0.762 SECOND SCRATCH *SHOOTS SELF IN HEAD. DEAD*

*in spirit* DO NOT GO TO THIS UNLESS SOME REALLY DRAMATIC CHANGES HAVE OCCURRED SINCE 2006

seems like it's more of a show with massive attack, mgmt, thievery corporation and big boi, than random synth noodling.

Yea... I think this is looking to be a high quality production... A C entertainment aren't looking to piss anyone off on this one... As I've said this looks to be Moog's biggest and best event, Celebrating the move to their new facility as well as other things...

Jan Hammer bombed it hugh? That's a shame...

I totally agree with you on Dj logic... Totally watered down stand in black guy... And I wonder if MGMT(or whatever) actually play Moogs... Those guys don't look to be that important in the electronic scene? ...Perhaps guess kids dig em...

Yes I demand Troon recant... lol

I'm not totally pumped on it either...

But Thievery Corporation, Four Tet and Dam Funk at the same show is worth seeing...

Could care less about the rest of the music there...(I do like some Massive Attack and a little E-Lp though)

A little to much of a commercial pop feel to this "Festival"... But a step in the right direction for the South Eastern United States...

Lived in Asheville my whole life. Saw Squarepusher, RJD2, Autechre, Jamie Lidell, and have even played @ The Orange Peel more than a few times with 2 different bands. Can't afford to go...SuX
