Chris Moss Acid
Just ordered my copy off ebay It means i have to re-read Less then Zero again! (which is no bad thing) but im looking forward to a new BEE book. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Bedrooms P.S thanks to BEE's recommendation, the national's new album ''ultra violet'' is excellent, well worth a listen if you like joy division or jesus and mary chain type bands Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/58034-imperial-bedrooms/ Share on other sites
benc812
i'm definitely looking forward to this one as well. hopefully this one is better than his last book 'lunar park'. not that it was all that bad but just weird with its flirtings with the supernatural. i should probably pick up less than zero again so i can pull the trigger on reading this new book. but considering that i've read less than zero about 3 or 4 times, i can't imagine it would take more than a day. Chris Moss Acid
I thoroughly enjoyed Lunar Park, I am a fan of Stephen King so it went hand in hand my favorite author writing in the style of my 2nd favorite. I listened to the audio book of Lunar park as well read by James Van Der Beak and i thought i read it very well. benc812
i should probably give lunar park another try. i'd bet that my disappointments were in expecting something totally different than what it actually was, but i think disappointment is probably too strong of a word. the first half or so of the book was very good indeed. i never read any stephen king so the references to king's style are lost on me. but that does put things more in perspective. edit: i should also mention that i did heavily enjoy the strong references in lunar park to 'hamlet'. especially since i would never immediately make correlations between shakespeare and ellis. goffer
I could never really get into BEE... seemed way to self-indulgent and forced. I own all his literature, but I guess I'm just waiting for his masterpiece because I know he has one in him. I own it all, read through most of them, but in the end, despite finding them somewhat engaging, I find them to be self-indulgent and forced... like a bad J. G. Ballard.
