Sorry, I didn't mean to come off quite that abrasive. I think I'd just been on too many forums and chat rooms where the men there said either "you can't possibly be a woman, you're into the same stuff as us!" or "oh wow, you're a woman!" and it gets old very fast.

If that's not how you meant it, then fine. Just be aware that can be how it comes across. Just how I'm not this scathing in real life. :)

Yes, that would indeed be silly. It wasn't really meant to be a threat so much as an expression of frustration and statement of cause and effect, is all. If you don't encourage people in general, they probably won't stay very long.
