Broken Drum

Where to begin..this remix represents (to me at least) the quintessential boc track. I wouldnt go so far as to say its my favorite (forest moon), but the true sign of genius is first concealing the method by which the track was achieved AND 'an intelligence at grips with a reality that transcends it'. Sean used the term nostalgia regarding boc, well this is a perfect example. I am not that big of a beck fan, when i listened to the original it wasnt something i wanted on repeat, but it put into perspective how TRULY gifted these guys are. This track is surreal - from the first ten seconds the track is built carefully, bocs greatest asset i think is patience, and when the beat finally drops at 3:36 it is primordial. Im sure some would NOT agree with me, but i havent seen a post regarding it and wanted to hear other thoughts.

Considering ive been waiting like all you fucks desperately for the next release..i think its important to remember how much theyve given us up to this point.

I know what you are talking about and I always stated that its one of the best songs I ever heard in my entire life.

Im not a big fan of Beck and it must feel good that you are not the only one who feels that this track is very very special.

it's a beautiful track, no doubt. stunning.

Each BoC remix is fantastic, but i'm not sure if that's because they're all fairly similar.

However, i think Beck himself once said that of all the artists whose remixed his material, BoC's treatment satisfied him most.

The original is still many times better though.

I've come to like the remix just as much, if not more. Beck wrote a wonderful and beautifully simple song, and BoC took it a completely different level in a very sincere way.

It sounds to me like BOC just ran it through their make everything sound molten device and threw in some other stuff that doesn't really add anything. I have to say I really dug the original though, rated it the best or second best track of that album, so it makes sense for me to not fall in love with any version that's been "messed with" no matter how well it's done.
