afterwards:

The police made a barrier at the entrance to the love parade pit, as they feared it was becoming overcrowded, forcing the HUGE flow of people entering the pit backwards into the tunnel, into the oncoming cue of people still moving forward to try and get in. Panic ensued and a fuck load of people became trapped in the tunnel.

Idk much about this fest if it's been done other years, but that looks like a horribly planned venue to hold such a large event, with that many people looks like it'd be a miserable time even without the panic.

Yeah, definitely a poorly planned venue space. Sounds miserable even before the panic... Shame what should have been a great experience went so wrong.

It's a festival that ranges dramatically in size from year to year. Sometimes a few hundred thousand turn up and sometimes over a million, so they never actually know what size crowd they are going to have to manage. This year though, was the largest it's ever been, and the event takes place every year, but it takes place in a different location every year, so this was a new venue.

after reading more, this whole thing seems so depressing. rip.

i'm too lazy to elaborate my 2cts to this because i just got back from working all night. all i can say is that i'm so glad i didn't get out of the train in duisburg and none of my friends got hurt. oh & the organisers should be locked up and raped. more on that later
