Guest abusivegeorge
I am not sure what to make of this. I found out today, that people with no limbs can no longer claim disability living allowance in the UK. This is because the new government has now deemed these people fit for work and every employer in the country now has an obligiation to employ, technically, disabled people. So, now they can get employed, they can no longer claim DLA. Please help me, I'm feeling a bit witf'd right now. I mean if they can't claim DLA, who the fuck can? and don't go telling me "mentally disabled people can still claim it" because they don't, they all work in Tescos. kakapo
DLA is to do with care and whether you need help with mobility, not whether you are able to work or not. I doubt even the conservatives would deny DLA to someone with no limbs. Are you getting confused with EAS and the work capabilty assesments and all that bollocks? No mate, went for a medical on Friday and had an appointment with my representative. What I just said is 100% truth. Their aim is to pull as many people as possible off DLA and ESA as possible. They want 90% of all applicants off the list by the end of 2010. and yes, exactly, a lot of no limbed people need help with mobility and care and were previously deemed unfit for work. Well not anymore. Edited July 26, 2010 by abusivegeorge Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/58245-benefits-in-the-uk/#findComment-1380403 Share on other sites

They won't be denying DLA to people with no limbs. My representative happened to bring it up, because they are pulling two of my disabled friends off of DLA, and I myself have just had the medical for it again, the second time in a month. One of my friends who's just been pulled off has no arms. So honestly, they are.
