venetian snares is the most atrocious music i ever knew, the huge following of watmmers was always a mystery to me..i've been giving him a chance since the earliest albums, there was always a thread about an upcoming album with a couple of tracks thrown in and those tracks always left the same impression, always the same sounds, the same beats, same freaky samples, same nu-metal type aggressiveness. he is an insult to what electronic music should be. i think i hate him even more than wisp and this mates' lush acid mate circle jerk crew.

i havent been able to get into much past his very early releases. shit sounds tired to me these days, corny even.

I can't deny the quality of the production. Really amazing clean and detailed, but if someone put on a track from the last 3 or 4 releases I couldn't tell you what record they were from because more often than not, they all sound exactly the same. So, over the last couple of years his style and character have been his downfall for me because none of the tracks have their own individuality with in themselves if that makes any sense.

I think the latter explains the former. Pretty different flavors there. Wisp and Snares are at the tippy top of my favs and Autechre to me sounds like noisy, directionless garbage. It's preference. You have to find out how to enjoy an artist's style. What's great about Snares obviously hasn't clicked for you just like I haven't figured out what makes Autechre cool.
