Song ID request

It was sort of a funk song. Probably a little later than James Brown era, I dont know for sure I'm just guessing.

Anyway the lyrical were really fucking generic, like: "We want the love" or "Everybody deserves some love".

But the most striking thing about the song was this epic guitar solo where the singer sang all the notes the guitar was playing. Sometimes they would fall momentarily out of sync but for the most part they were in time.

Anyone able to name that tune?
