Guest beatfanatic
So I am a noob when it comes to Swans. I just heard their new track called "Eden Prison" from their upcoming album. You can listen to it here - http://www.tinymixtapes.com/chocolate-grinder/listen-swans-eden-prison Now I understand they have a huge catalogue and lot of their earlier albums used to sound quite different. So can anyone recommend me a good album to begin with that sounds more like "Eden Prison"??? Thanks. Guest Z_B_Z
i think i like giras other project a little better. more laid back and the songwriting is completely amazing. angels of light - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULzmkhqTvKw i need to check out more 80s era swans. it seems like the most intense period..their "last" album was pretty good too, 'soundtracks for the blind.' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqG9s1NUZsU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHES9YAGGkU&feature=related Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/58656-swans/#findComment-1390844 Share on other sites
eugene
i just recently downloaded a 5gb torrent of everything swans, going chronologically, "filth" sounded great although the growling is a bit annoying sometimes. Guest Greg Reason
Most Swans is golden, especially the earlier stuff when it was all mega pain. The country stuff is good too but I find it less endearing. A lot easier on the ears (and stomach) though. Hard to pick one but Greed is pretty fuckin ace Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/58656-swans/#findComment-1391256 Share on other sites
Guest Z_B_Z
what draws me to giras 'country period' the most are the improvements hes made as a songwriter. there are some tracks on 'we are him' where he'll sing off some lines that completely blow me away. almost on a cohen/dylan level, tho his style is completely his own. Guest Greg Reason
He does have surprisingly brilliant lyrics for such a wild/insane character. But then I guess he has some solid life history to write from! Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/58656-swans/#findComment-1391276 Share on other sites
