chenGOD
http://www.1bitsymphony.com/ Pretty interesting stuff. Elements of minimalism involved, and I like the tech. Apparently the last movement is infinite, you just switch off the device when finished. Boxus
man i really love this stuff. i've always envisioned a project like this but with generative formulas and limited user control over the music.. maybe just a couple knobs you could twiddle to tweak the piece. anyone know if this has been done on an equally distributable level? luke viia
that is a pretty great project. Boxus, i think you're on to a pretty sweet idea there (if it hasn't been done, like you mentioned). i bought a little device called a "buddha box" last year, it's basically a set of a dozen or so drone loops, and you can manually adjust the speed.. but nothing else... it'd be really great if they added more options for the listener/player Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide luke viia's signature Hide all signatures GHOST: have you killed Claudius yet HAMLET: no GHOST: why HAMLET: fuck you is why im going to the cemetery to touch skulls [planet of dinosaurs - the album [bc] [archive]] Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/58864-1-bit-symphony/#findComment-1396559 Share on other sites
Guest wake
Interesting idea, but I'd get a headache if I listened to this for more than a couple minutes. The Buddha Box is much more pleasing to the ears. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/58864-1-bit-symphony/#findComment-1396570 Share on other sites
Guest maus
this is pretty cool, but it's a BIT of a stretch for this guy to be emphasizing a "performance" every time you turn this thing on. IMHO, it's still recorded music... just recorded in a different format, really. but the presentation and concept are cool. just wondering why it's seemingly impossible to have someone make something like this but then not come over like a pretentious wanker. maybe i need paxil or something. chenGOD
lol maus, i definitely feel you on the pretentiousness bit. but he's from academia, they're prone to that. I just filter that and concentrate on the end product. Otherwise I'd never be able to listen to Stockhausen et al.
