this is a fantastic track, if anyone here has Reaktor try to track down the patch 'Metallo' it sounds very similar to the sounds used in this track.

I first listened to Quaristice Versions as falling to sleep music but out loud and during the day, and when this track came on it really creeped me out, it feels like it's encroaching on you.

This track makes me think of waking up on an evil prison ship, rocking back and forth in the tide. The first few seconds are like opening your eyes, everything slightly distorting for a second. Then you walk around on the deck, and slowly become aware of your doom. You start to feel sick with fear, and the waves tumbling amongst the briny blue don't help either, as they push the vessel forwards and back, rocking you about. You wonder if you'd rather have the ship sink into oblivion then have it take you back to whatever godforsaken place it'd heading to.

LOL I had the same experience! The reverb sounded enough like my room at the time that I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on in my apartment.

I just really liked this track for the first time ever. Its so awesome when the song just concludes in that dark bass tone only to continue the madness as it did before. I did never listen that far into the track before lol. Maybe this really needs good headphones

My old apartment had this metal staircase in a really echo-prone stairway down to the garage, and whenever I walked down it I would be forced to do so in a SonDEre-ix rhythm, and it sounded similar enough to amuse me greatly, true story bros: highlight of my 2008

i really don't understand why quaristice and it's eps are so widely disliked. some of AEs most experimental and advanced work is on those albums. they cut loose a bit on other tracks, doing more 'playful' sounds but it balances out to be one of their most abstract albums.

it's like all the shit they taught themselves over the 20 years previous culminates in this mammoth collection of digital mayhem. all corners explored

this track is a good example out of that

i appreciate that it is more 'loose' than their other albums, like they're really having fun with improvisation and such, but i just can't help but think they're taking the piss with some of the tracks on quaristice.

absolutely.

i was going to post that i disagree with vamos, but i don't realy know what i disagree with. quaristice doesn't have the feel that every single noise was handcrafted and arranged just so, like a song like gantz graf or all of draft (with the exception of fol3/4).

they said in many interviews that this was meant to be an album version of the perfect untilted set. there seems like theres quite a bit of noodling, in tracks like that long synth progression in theplc/live sets, and percussion noodling, like bnc castl.

i think it gives it a much more loose feel, but the overall mood of the album is achieved by something else entirely. it's got that familiar ae building, frenetic feel in many places but it's just not as developed as earlier work. this is evidenced by the short track lengths. i think they found solid lines/beats to go off on and then this is the template for them to take their piss. quaristice was probably just them jamming the fuck out of all the live material and finally cutting it up a year later.
