God I cannot wait for this. Ever since Caribou created this Ensemble last year, I have been checking the internet for live bootlegs. Finally he is releasing the LP + DVD combo on his latest tour which starts Sept 3.

I will be going to his show Sept 30, so I will definitely pick this up.

The limited edition double-vinyl set, credited to "Caribou Vibration Ensemble Featuring Marshall Allen", comes with a DVD of the show and the ridiculously great cover art you see above. It'll only be available at Caribou shows, not at record stores

Live at ATP New York:

LP1:

A1 Every Time She Turns Round It's Her Birthday

A2 Hendrix With Ko

B1 Sandy

B2 Skunks

LP2:

A1 Barnowl

A2 Melody Day

B1 Brahminy Kite

B2 A Final Warning

Caribou Vibration Ensemble consists of 15 piece band including all of our friends - Kieran Hebden (Four Tet), Luke Lalonde (Born Ruffians), Koushik Ghosh (Koushik), a five piece horn section, four drummers and Sun Ra arkestra band leader and legend Marshall Allen

I was all over it until I saw that you could only get it at the shows! Unfortunately he's not coming to Detroit.

Hopefully there are extras for sale after the tour.

fuck me gently with a chainsaw, this looks exquisite. For a minute there I got my hopes up that the current tour is the entire ensemble

*sigh*

So I downloaded this and to be honest it's a little underwhelming, perhaps I'll grow to like it but it kinda feels like an artificial substitute for the live show, which I guess you could say for any live album by anybody so nevermind I guess.
