Happy Hardcore and Hardcore Techno

I can't hide this guilty secret any longer. I love it. Particularly the rolling semi-Jungle stuff of the mid-90's and the superfast techno rave-up madness that DJ Sharkey used to play out back in the day. Anyone else? Maybe it's just because I'm an Essex boy. :whistling:

I used to live for this stuff. Bass Generator/Rezerection stuff, had dozens of tapes from about 93-95.

I went through my main happy hardcore phase when I was about 9 - 12. It was probably the first type of music I started listening to properly. My mates older brother and his pals used to go to all the events in Edinburgh and Newcastle, the Fubar club in Stirling. I would have loved to have been there. Kind of grew out of it when I got to high school. Still love it though, wish I still had all those tapes.

Yeah I was in a similar situation. I wasn't quite old enough to do the raving when this stuff was around, but I did do a lot of bedroom raving instead.

I was into this stuff when I was 14/ 15, and don't listen to it regularly now, but still when I stick on a Bonkers CD I love it. I dunno, part of it must be sentimental, but, as low production value as most of it is, I think there's something more to it than that. It's the hoovers, synths and bounce. Classic combo!

I'd like to some of EKT make some; it can't be that hard to put together a hardcore track for someone who knows their way around Reason or FruityLoops.

This is a fave of mine: Hixxy remix of Now Is The Time by Scott Brown. Yeeeeeeaaaaahhh!!

These two are both classics, particularly Eye Opener by Brisk. The others I don't think were as big in the UK. The US scene was quite different I think.
