i don't get it. care to explain?

It was a collaboration with a poet. He provided the text, I did the music. Scoring is Baritone, Flute, Clarinet, Harp (tuned microtonally), Violin and Cello. Pitch material was taken largely, but by no means exclusively, from the higher partials of a grandfather clock's chime. Structurally it is episodic with discrete, contrasting sections immediately next to each other. The electronics passage at the end was part of the Chime material put through and granular synthesizer.

Well I think it's fantastic. To me it expresses a lot confusion, alienation, absurdity, and on and on... actually resonates with me quite a bit, so I think the "souless" description is way off the mark. I would love to see something like this performed live, and congrats on the premiere! Have you had other pieces of your own performed by groups like this before?

A quick perusal of your other tracks on soundcloud answers my question. You've got some real talent.

Can't help you there.

why not?

Well it's just that the piece is fairly explicit and doesn't require a terrible amount of explanation in my opinion. If there's any "soul" to be had it's in the harmonies which, I suppose, you either like or don't.
