Where did Ireland get such a name for god fearing people

you know, the majority of birthday cards over there have some kind of reference to God in them. it was a nightmare for my girlfriend (at the time) trying get me a birthday card that didn't have some schmultzy religious overtones.

fuck that pastor. book burnings. shame that there are a lot of tolerant religious folks in america and we get nothing but nutbars making the news every day.

and it's not too hard to get a non-Jesus birthday card in america, oscillik. your gf may have been exaggerating to hide her shitty skills at mailing you things in a timely fashion.

GHOST: have you killed Claudius yet

i saw it for myself, with my own eyes, both times i've been to America. maybe it's the states i went to? either way, it was nigh on impossible to find a birthday card that didn't have some religious overtones.

and for further information, the ex girlfriend i was referring to was not the last relationship i came out of.

hmmmmmm... the states you visited probably did have a lot to do with it. A large part of the south really loves White Jesus and will plaster him on any blank surface they can find. The north also loves White Jesus, but we're generally more accepting of other colors of Jesus as well, and consequently keep the offensive plastering down to a(n American) minimum.

Perhaps the whole Americans being religious extremist was an overstatement. But this really pissed me off when I saw it on the news this morning. Its spreading hate for the sake of hate. Christianity doesnt have a lot of things going for it but it used to have peaceful natured people going for it.

Actually now that I think that through, it never really did. I always found my religious environment to be full of nice people but Im sure that shit was just a cover up. Fuck, why cant people just be reasonable and stop being such fucking attention seeking twats.

i went to Florida, and NY State. i just thought it was funny and a bit sad that if you wanted to get a loved one a birthday card, you had to get one with either Jesus or God referenced somewhere. thank fuck for online card things, eh?

go back in time, and go to the Shoebox section or "Birthday - Humor" section. those are the funny secular ones with garfield on them. you must have missed that. all greeting card shops in america are divided equally: the southern- portion of the shop is jesus and god cards, and the northern portion is all garfield cards.

all you chodes who hit up the southern states and make a stereotype on all americans are no better than koran burning assclowns i hope you diaf but i must admit i do love chassis and his controversial watmm posts this is a runon sentence

how the hell can you get angry/offended at some religious loonie burning a book?

this is, at its core, a non-issue. no one's getting hurt. move on, get over it.

meanwhile - the local maternity ward - nurse comes in with a great big sledgehammer

I don't see any problem with it. It's not going to make more people understand that 9/11 was wrong. Nor will it cut down the calories that most Americans seem to digest.

If a loony wants to make a point which doesn't help anyone and possibly get himself killed over it then fine.
