a steaming pile of tauntingly useless garbage.

The concept is fantastic, but the implementation is fucking shitty shit shitterson. Feels like something out of 1991.

what kind of designer?

Anyway. I'd sort of be interested, but across all platforms that would be a bitch to undertake and support and have work 100%

I'm a graphic designer. I'd love to design the interface for a program like that.

OK so after looking around quite a lot there are definitely a lot of people who would buy a full-featured sysex editing program. There are 0 competitors to midiquest which is why is sucks so many balls (and also costs 500 fucking dollars LOL).

I would SO be down to bust on some open-source action and put those fuckers out of their misery.

i prefer sound diver over midiquest, although it's been discontinued for the past 4-5 years it works a lot better than midiquest. Midiquest is one huge cocktease, you see all these knobs and faders but none of them work.

Yeah sounddiver is pure win. Sad they discontinued it. It was expensive too, but it actually worked and had a profile for a large mass of synthesizers.

really though the best way to do it would be to make it all open source, create the sounddiver type environment where you can let people create the profiles themselves and then share them online. badda-bing. No one will ever complain about not being supported.

ya most likely.

I'd love to put together an open-source team to do it. Anyone know of a place to meet people interested in that???

there is a sounddiver yahoo user discussion group with lots of user made templates. unfortunately to run most versions of sounddiver you need a Logic / emagic XSkey

awesome so I've found some communities where I'm going to start looking for a developer to do this.

I'll make a new thread to get some feature requests from you guys. :)

Most likely this weekend.

stay tuned.

Guest analogue wings

at the moment i'm grinding out code in good ole C#. i'm going to quickly build a couple of midi utilities for specific bits of gear i have, as practice like. then i'm going to look at something more general purpose. it's going way quicker than i thought tbh.

my favourite tool in this category, jsynthlib, is open source, but it's clearly been abandoned for years, which makes me a little bit wary of the open source approach. I'm going to try the "my source bitch" model at first, and then see about releasing it to os when it's got all the features i want.

if you want to collab on the UI and functionality I'd be more than open to it. Perhaps we can strike a for-profit venture from the whole sheebang.

  • 6 months later...

so did anything come out of this project? I'd love for all the watmm sound diver/librarian editor users to have some places to discuss using them.

Guest analogue wings

Yeah so I downloaded a free MIDI library which turned out not to be 64bit compatible, so I basically had to rewrite the damn thing.

Got that working and then my MKS7 failed.

Got MKS7 fixed, then I got sick...

So yeah I'll get back into it in the next month or so hopefully
