Sound Effects Library

Alright I'm finishing up sound work on my lady's final student film and I need to find a good sound effects library. I dont want anything too large like 5 gigs max and the sounds shouldnt be too incredible (huge volume crescendos eq sweeps etc). I don't any effects to overwhelm the dialogue/music or sound out of place. I know a lot of this has to do with mixing, but I don't want the dynamics to already be wild trying to mix in a sound.

In terms of particular sounds I need urban things ie streets, cars, breaking glass etc. Anyone who knows of a good sound effects library please help me out.

Oh last of all the sounds should be freely licensed (I dont know enough about copyright but so they can be used in a student film no prob)

Much love and many thanks

There was a project on Soundcloud that may suit your needs, I'll see if i can find it.

EDIT: Found it:

(click the link, each set has a bunch of samples you can download, as I recall Urban Process was a communal thing where people uploaded samples from cities to make tunes, some of them may work for you.)

i've been using freesound and its inspiring me to try one of those zoom recorders. no one really replied in regards to sfx libraries but I've gotten by alright on the apple library for soundtrack pro + detroit chop shop. not that it matters to me at this stage of the game, but I fear a little that the apple one is probably all over the place and typically i'd prefer to try to avoid that unless its an orch5 for good measure

thanks for the replies though

Zoom H4, I assume?

i was planning on the H2 as I've heard it gets the job done...and the reviews generally are stellar although I believe someone here said that the flash card they give you with it is shit. is there a big upgrade to the H4? Honestly I have a lot of other things on my wish list so I was gonna go for the cheap compact recorder

also thanks for the recent replies concerning libraries ill look into them
