MS-20 is great fun to play around with. The PolySix was my go-to plugin for any pads a couple of years ago. The only criticism I might have of them is they start to sound fairly old fairly quickly, that may well be my personal approach to them though. The MS-20 VST is well worth hunting down though.

the USB controller is more like a toy

the Polysix isn't bad but the MS20 sounds more like a cartoon version of the real thing, the Wavestation is pointless next to other modern VST's unless you want specific wavestation patches

if your actually going to spend money on a VST and your after analogue emulation get an Arturia Moog Modular V imho

funny someone should start a thread about this here when i've spent the entire day yesterday trying to find a way to get it work on windows 7 x64. i've got the h2o release with the emulated usb dongle and i just won't work, which is amazingly annoying since i've been somewhat dependant on these two synths (m1 and wavestation) for a good while now. goddamnit.

I've heard that the Wavestation is a rare case of a software emulation sounding better than the original synth. Haven't used either enough to judge myself, though.

Not running 64 bit, but I can't see why they wouldn't work, they're keygens rather than dongle emus.

it works! THANK YOU!! holy shit what a relief, thought i was gonna have to go back to x86 just to be able to use it (and thus only be able to use 3gb of my 6gb ram), damn, this made my day fo shoo.

I AM GONNA SPLURGE -its 150 for the software

thanks for your opinions dudes

i've got the analog version. i'd say it's well worth 150 bucks!

like Chris Moss says, it's wicked fun using the controller with the software and patching things up.

i think the software versions of the MS-20 and Polysix sound decent tbh. and i agree with almost everybody here that the Polysix is great all round really.

however, imo the MS-20 sounds a little thin compared to the real thing. sounds very good, don't get me wrong, but very digital i'd say.

..with the Mono/Poly, i've owned the real thing and it just doesn't sound at all like it. nowhere near as deep and phatt! you just can't emulate those 4 oscillators!! fo' real.

you could say the same about the MS-20, in some respects, but i reckon it's much much closer to the real thing. and the filter is sick!! :D

not tried the digital versions like the Wavestation, etc. but have heard people rate it very highly, who've used the real thing.

given a choice between the Legacy sw (w/MS-20 controller) and Arturias' Moog Modular? i'd go with Korg Legacy anyday!

Guest hahathhat

i quite like the polysix and ms-20. use the shit out of them. i don't really use the other synth vst, but sometimes i do use the effect version of it (MDX)

i've had multiple chances to buy a real polysix but apparently they break real easy. and i have a reliable analog poly already...

I don't understand your thinking on this at all. It's a synth plugin that can be programmed and if you spend the time with it you can get really great sounds. Just because there's something newer with different bells and whistles doesn't diminish the value of something else. I'd stress "different"... it's a personal taste thing.

have the vsts but not the controller (have a cheap midi kb/controller that works fine)

they're regular workhorses of synths, i use them a lot. the one that lets you modularly hook up all the other ones (forget the name) is especially cool.

data, windows 7 x64 here, and they work fine (well, in ableton, but you use renoise iirc).

yeah, thanks to kakapo suggesting i'd try v1.32 it works here now aswell. i had no idea there was a new version out, and it's weird since i've been browsing the official forums and people are screaming for 64-bit support. the admins even posted a "windows 7 x64 compatible beta" demo, but i couldn't get that to work either.
