Which version do you prefer?

I like the midsection of the second one very much. it would be a shame not to use it. same goes for the ending of the first version. you HAVE to use it in the final version! it's so good.

did you record any noise-samples for this piece? such as a pen falling down or something

I don't think I used a pen falling down. There are however a lot of my own samples that I loaded into the Elektron Machinedrum for this track.

So who knows what it is....

My main tool was the Elektron Machinedrum UW. Apart from that, lots of trickery in the trusty old Cubase.
