multi-level keyboard stands

Recommended Posts

so I'm in bad need of a good 3 or 4 level KB stand for my gear so I've been looking around.

I found a great company called Jasper based in Germany (of course)

There is also On-Stage

but I'm not sure it would be easy to get them here in the EU. + they don't have so much selection.

I was then thinking about building my own so i could have exactly what I need. Jasper sells parts which are not too expensive (t-joints, pipe etc) but after designing one and adding up the costs it's cheaper to buy one ready made. :(

I'm caught between wanting a big a-frame stand and the X style stand with extenders. The a-frame would be awesome because I could add on levels pretty easily with the spare parts from Jasper, but the X would be better for taking to shows and stuff like that.

What are you guys experiences with these things? Are the X stands with extenders any good? Seems like they would be less stable than the a-frame, but I could be wrong.

Here's the x style I'm looking at.

jasper has some badass add-ons, and tons of variations.

Instead of €180 I did it for about €50 and it's sturdy as fuck.

It's made of Broder parts from Ikea. I improvised a bit and got the centered top shelf, and set the middle shelf back a few cm to get a staggered setup. It's still not ideal, as it's hard to see into the bottom if you're in a chair. Not bad though and super sturdy. It's sooooo nice to leave everything setup. It just kills the mood every time when I have to spend 30 mins doing spacial sudoku followed by a midi cable logic puzzle.

Now I can sit down and just switch it all on and hit record. :D
