Banana-hauling truck overturns

Drivers were (ahem) going bananas this morning in Livingston County after a truck carrying 43,000 pounds of the fruit rolled over on a major Brighton-area freeway ramp.

Police shut down the ramp so wreckers could upright the truck and, well, spilled bananas don’t foster safe traffic.

The ramp has since reopened, after being shut for several hours this morning.

Trooper Jennifer Hodgson of the Michigan State Police Brighton Post said the truck apparently took the curve on the ramp from north U.S.-23 to west I-96 a little too sharply, and it rolled over. No serious injuries were reported.
