it's absolutely freezing in my house recently and it really feels like winter is arriving now, and i got thinking about what i'll be listening to the winter - my staple listens are usually Owen and American Football (along with the other Kinsella and post-Cap'n Jazz bands) and lots and lots of post-rock (Mogwai in particular makes for an incredible winter listen I find).

what do you guys like to listen to at this (or, the soon-to-be) type of year?

I usually only listen to Music Has the Right to Children and drukqs in the wintertime; not that i hold out until then but fall/winter was when i was introduced to each work several years ago.

other than that, opeth comes to mind...

Slightly unrelated, but appreciate not being in the hell-that-california-has-been over the last few days. Record breaking temperatures on Monday, it was mo'fucking 112 degrees here. Too hot to function, much less care about schoolwork at all

I want cold. *sweats more*

Utterly predictable I'm afraid, but I might dust off a bit of BoC. Bibio's Vignetting The Compost might work as well.

strange how people hear things so differently - vignetting the compost is my number 1 summertime record,

the accidental comma in this post is killing me... fuck editing time cut-offs.

i've also just noticed how perfect mrs jynx's shark carousel is for the cold times of the year. very beautiful.

Indeed.

There's a lot others for me, as the winter here in Finland is a long one.

Two records that aren't particularly frosty or wintry, but with which I had great times last winter:

Yagya - Rigning. Always fresh like the virgin snow of a January landscape.

Maeror Tri - Myein. Heart-wrenchingly sad music for the dark and lonely hours that are plenty.

I don't actually have a winter type music that I listen too more. Except for at work the radio always plays fucking Christmas songs from the start of October.

I might re-listen to as much Miles Davis as I can soon though. Also Sonny Rollins cause I'm seeing him in November.

I typically would listen to music that fits my mood, and in the winter I can be often depressed. I'M TURNING THAT SHIT AROUND THIS YEAR!!! Even in the summer when the weather makes me happy, I can easily feel down. So I started to take music less seriously and listen to more fun stuff, which has helped. I have to keep that up in the winter months.

Nothing specific planned. Just saying I HOPE I don't listen to too much wintery stuff.

Probably some Aphex Twin and Autechre. Maybe some Boards of Canada. Definitely some µ-Ziq and Cylob. Probably round it out with some Plaid and Squarepusher. :cisfor:
