D-Beat - what do you guys think?

Just came across the D-Beat from OpenLabs and was wondering what you guys thought. Seems interesting as you can run Ableton on it etc. Not available in the UK it seems and has retails price of $3k!!! :O

Open Labs is based here in Austin. I've been to their office, talked with some of their staff, and I know a guy who works there who was in the same Sound Recording program I was. Their shit is legit and I would definitely recommend it. They rigorously test all manner of software with their hardware and their units are the secret weapons of a lot of big-name producers and musicians.

Also, they have the patent on putting a computer inside a housing connected up to controllers in the manner they do, so you're not gonna see it anywhere else for at least a good while commercially. If you want a regular computer inside a piece of hardware, they're the ones to go to.

Yeah, they're big REAPER supporters. It ships with all their units (though only as a demo with some I think :/ ).

I thought they were going out of business. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

a laptop, a controller and gaffa tape will do the same for less money.
