Focusrite Saffire 6 USB not working with Windows 7 :(

Recommended Posts

Ez guys. I got a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB about a year ago and been using it on me Lappy which runs Win XP.

Anyways I've tried using it with me lappy with runs Windows 7 and although I get sound I get this irritating feedback type of sound on top of the output. Its a bit like the interference you might get when you place a mobile near an amp/speaker but not quite the same.

So I'm just wondering if anyone else has had problems with trying to get this soundcard to run Windows 7. Incidentally I downloaded all the latest drivers but still got no love. :(

Could it be a difference in the current from one laptop as opposed to the other that's causing this maybe?

Well whatever it is thoughts welcome guys.

Cheers.

Is it a newer or legacy card? It took until the last update this Summer for my Saffire (white firewire one - I did buy the le but this one turned up) to work 100% with Windows 7. It does now work better than it did with Vista though.

Its a newer one. Oddly it only runs on USB 1.0 but I understand that's for stability issues. Worse case scenario I may have to invest in another external soundcard which is a shame 'cause I've got two and I don't like to waste equipment.

I get nasty feedback from my Edirol FA-66 whenever I have it plugged into the same outlet as my laptop. It's a grounding issue. Not sure if you have the same issue. Does it happen even if the laptop is unplugged?

Haven't tried that I'll give that a shot.
