Hey friends,

I recently started limiting myself to the sequencers in my gear. Boy is that tough!

I'm considering getting one of these to help out. Looks pricey!

I'd love to hear tips/tricks and war stories from anyone that has experience making music with only the sequencers in their gear. That includes vsts that have onboard sequencers.

elektron sequencers are the muts nuts for live jamming and i'm just getting into my mpc with jjos which is also very intuative but also more liner

the only problem with loop orientated sequencers is the arranging stage isn't as easy as having it all on a big screen n front of you however for jamming and immidiacy it sure beats dragging a feking mouse around

modular sequencing is another story altogether

Lube, have you ever tried this before?

It's a spiritual journey wherein you learn about yourself...and your gear.

I use numerology to control all my hardware, it's excellent - a range of various analogue style sequencers all assigned to different midi channels. loads of randomisation options in different scales and modes and stuff.... it's even got an automatic chord sequencer. mac only though.

I used to use the sequencer on my Roland RS-70. That was fun and worked great.

I've also done some stuff on my Electribe, which is pretty nifty.

Honestly though, nothing comes close to sequencing in Renoise.

hmmm I'll have to look into sequencing from renoise.

Numerology is great but it's song composition arranger window things is aaaawwweful. You can't for instance play a song from any position other than the very beginning... Useless.

For that I use live or Logic. But then it gets a bit reedonculous.

btw I use numerology simply for creating and sequencing patterns which are played out to my synths with the audio being routed back and recorded into cubase for arrangement, slicing, FX etc

ya I knew there was some trick involved. :) Numerology is currently useless for actually sequencing entire compositions.

To me, the best thing is mixing it up. Best of both worlds.

I agree as hard as I can. Tried it. Dislike it. The end.
