Perhaps you have some Moog to trade for my Prophet?

No. But I did play with a pro one 3 days ago for the first time and there was a minimoog about 8 ft away which i also played with for the billionth time. Pro one wins hands down (for MY tastes mind you) imo. But they are both great and u won't get the minimoog bass out of a pro one nor will you get that cem filter bite out of the mini. But all in all, I love DSI stuff so I'm a bit biased.

(ps - the octave kitten beat them both)

Apologies as this isn't a DSI thread, and not like any of you care, but I absolutely cannot get into the DSI sound. I HATE the filter on the pro8.

Minimoog fans tend to be pretty rough on the Phatty, and Dave Smith is a clever dude, but at the end of the day it's still a 2 VCO discrete synth vs a 2 DCO integrated synth.

My main synth is CEM based and I love it but I'm not gonna pretend I don't hear the difference when I hear a VCO going through a discrete filter.

I though the Pro8 filter was superb, DS had them specially made to give a warmer sound than the Evolver

no volume loss at high resonance, a smooth range with a high frequency response much better than the Pro1 or Waldorf Pulse the only downside being you can saturate it

albeit a little cleaner than a Memorymoog filter but I thought that worked better for polyphonic sounds

the only reason I got rid of my Pro8 was the sounds were nothing new like the Orb, Orbital or Jarre all the time  but I certainly held it's own with other curtis polys (like the Xpander) and even pissed on the Memorymoog in poly unison mode

my tuppence

Well, all things aside. I suppose it is nice that Moog finally released an "affordable" synth. I'm not a huge fan of the knobs tbh. Too loose and doesn't give you that tight grip. The sound with the feedback is groovy though. The sound in general is just fine and dandy. If they sell on teh bay used for like 600 bucks that might be hard to turn down.
