unimportant question... but i was just wondering this....has anyone here ever heard a dj play some afx at a club or anything similar? personally i've heard efdemin drop 'On' some weeks ago, and that gem went down like a motherfucker. thats about it though... i wonder why you hear aphex so rarely....many of his other older tracks would fit perfectly into some straight techno sets.

Some DJ I saw the other week dropped Red Hot Car and Joy Orbison. But I was a few minutes late, thought he would have dropped some Aphex at some stage.

around here no one even can imagine who aphex is.

but once at an erasmus party i went to, there was this guy, sat on the floor, with a little cheap stereo and he was really having fun just changing from one cd to another and turning the volume up/down, though he thought he was acting dj. he was playing some dnb and leftfield electronic music, but i can't remember what.

later i noticed he had an aphex hoodie and went talking to him. he showed me his cd collection and had lots of aphex, including saw 85-92.

thought he actually didn't play aphex that night, it was very nice to meet someone who loved him as well.

All the time! Some of you lot go to the wrong clubs ;) Pretty much every time I've seen Vibert he drops some AFX...

Over here Aphex Twin is pretty much unheard of as well. I'm probably literally the only one for miles listening to it at a given time. I did have a friend who I introduced Aphex Twin and he ended up really liking it, although he said he had heard it from his cousins first he didn't start listening to it till I played it for him. But alas he has moved so its just me again :)

i know that feeling.

i have introduced aphex to some friends, but they either say 'very nice' and never get back to it or just don't like it at all.

Many times at the 030303 parties, Luke Vibert gigs, summer festivals, last week at the Rephlex party (by the warm up DJ's), but that's not very special I think. What wás special, was that I was at a really cheesy popular disco in my town, famous for it's fighting incidents, hiphop/R&B parties/concerts and everything mainstream really. I'd heard there would be a free electronic music night just when it started so we dropped by to check it out with all our pessimism. I think it was pretty generic house/minimal tech/some oldies/oldschool hiphop, and out of the blue came Powerpill Pacman, out of all the aphex tracks. It was a pretty weird experience seeing all the local homeboys being irritated by it, but it did pretty well on the dancefloor. After that the music went back to generic and boring, then I left. The end.

I've heard it in several places/restaurants as background music. I heard some saw82-94 slowed down in winamp at a diner, some flim at a sushi joint, 4 at a french restaurant, I'm sure theres a couple other times I can't think of.

Right after all the analords came out, I tried to DJ all of them at a electro night at some bar in NYC. I ended up playing a couple tracks from each.

Most bars where I live have jukeboxes with a pretty wide musical selection, including Aphex's Warp albums. I always put on something from drukqs.

i usually drop at least a couple whenever i dj....

apart from that the only time i've ever heard any was at my student union about 5 years ago, this girl mixed windowlicker into polynomial-c and then rounded it off with some squarepusher. pretty cool

lol yeah I played Mt St mikey at a buffalo wild wings near chicago. after 2 min the owner shut it off and said dont ever play anything like that again, then i said, gimmie my dollar back. He gave me a dirty look as he pulled the dollar out of his pocket and gave it to me. I went back up and played windowlicker and they left it on.
