I actually agree with most of what is said on this website. Polygraph tests should not be allowed to be used as evidence in court.

They usually aren't. But the confessions they force (because they are designed to make you uncomfortable, feel like the "jig is up" and then blurt something out after the conclusion of the test when confronted with the results) are, and that's the entire point.

I didn't check the link or watch the original video because I'm at work, but polygraphs are simultaneously understood to be bullshit and to be a great tool to force a confession, so they aren't going anywhere. The entire point is to abuse it, to puff up the air of legit science when the whole principle of operation and interpretation is flawed, to make the interrogee feel fucked.

And the interrogee is just as likely someone from within the government, since the Agencies really love to poly their employees and see what comes to light.

Thing is, even when you know it's bullshit you also know you're up against someone skilled at reading your nonverbal cues and who is trying to dig out the "truth" or a particular version thereof. And if you already look like a sweaty nervous wreck, then the poly is really just a prop, per the Wire clip above.

edit: also, the second anyone puts a blood pressure cuff on me, for medical reasons or other, I feel like I'm going to blow a gasket/stroke out, etc. Jesus, that's uncomfortable.
