If you had say £2-3k what would you buy?

Recommended Posts

Just curious. Lets say tomorrow you had 2-3k (sterling not dollars) then what would you buy? Oh and I'm talking about purchases that are serious value for money as oppose to indulgences if you get me.

I'm thinking it'd be nice to get say the AKAI MPC5000, some KRK8s, a bass guitar and maybe a new PC.

What about you lot?

ya I'd get a big firewire interface with like 10 ins and outs + MPC 1000 or 2000 + monomachine or machinedrum. Maybe a new macbook pro if I could squeeze it in.

badaboom.

don't know the price yet tho

Oh my God

I was going to say something along "I'll put it in the bank as long as possible" but fuck that now, i'd be wanting a Synthi !

Man what I really need is a new desk to put all my shit on.

A huge desk with places to put my monitors, build in rack, slide out keyboard tray, beerholder.

That would be some tits.

i'd start with some sensible stuff like an external HD that I can use to free-up space on my laptop, then get a new soundcard with 10ins and outs, then a new midi interface with a decent number of i/o ports. Splash the cash on more midi cables (is it me or are they getting more expensive these days?). then, i'd set about seeing how many things i could get from my mental list of gear that has appealed to me over the years but i've always filed under "buy if i came across a good deal and i'm feeling flush":

Kawai K5000s

Korg X5

Korg Z1

Quasimidi Polymorph

Yamaha DX200

Machinedrum UW

Redsound Darkstar

Roland XV5050

Somewhere in amongst that I'd probably look to pick up more guitar FX, especially some analogue delays, maybe a reverb of some description (so long as it's shit sounding) and maybe some distortion, maybe a Harmonic Percolator clone...

an AKS or VCS3 when they're reissued in Jan

We can all wish. People have been putting down payments on them for years and only a handful have been produced. The waiting list is well over twice as long for how many synthi's they can make with the original components too, and the price tag is also over the 2-3k mark the OP was talking about.

We can all dream though...

i've looked through it a couple of times now, and i can't figure out what's gash. i can see that they might not be to some/many people's taste. where am i going wrong?

The Korg X5 is a bit of an odd inclusion, but everything else would be useable in some way.

In answer to the question, probably a Cwejman or a decent modular set up.
