need more ambient

Recommended Posts

Just spent the last 4 hours listening to SAWI and SAWII at work.. holy shit he needs to put out more ambient music.. it is just incredible.

Rhubarb makes me want to break down and cry about unknown feelings - this man is a genius. I find his other records aren't as appealing. Ambient all the way.. surely one of those six albums he is boasting about is an ambient one? Hope so.

I don't understand how people can only like such a small portion of RDJ's music, if they are fans of electronic music in general. Just my take on that.

But I think that "Metz track" is sort of an updated SAW1 style track. It's perty.

All his 90s albums are masterpieces I think. The problem is in the 00s he basically went "fuck pop music, I want to make really subtle complicated acid for 10 years".

Still his new stuff sounds like he's found a way to combine the best parts from both decades into something pretty awesome... Definitely looking forward to the new album.

I still can't really get into SAW II. I like the first four tracks, and that's about where the fun ends for me. It's just too... there isn't enough going on for my taste.

I didn't understand SAW II until I listened to it on a greyhound bus after not sleeping for about 30 hours. It always makes more sense to me when I am sleep deprived or otherwise in an altered state of mind. Of course there are tracks that are always beautiful, but it's hard to listen to the whole 2 albums when you're wide awake.

later part of meltphace 6 is sufficiently SAWII imo, might just be the voices though

meltphace 6 is my favorite drukqs track because it covers a wide range of richard's styles.

i love the ambient elements of its structure.

This is an album of fan-made Aphex Twin covers. One of the tracks is not actually RDJ, but an original track inspired by his ambient works. It's called "Soltox" and I think you'll like it. You'll find a place to download the whole album in the thread above, but here is the Soltox track by itself:
