Don't Make Me Start Having Pledge Drives!

As I see my "hosting costs increases" announcement when relatively unread (thanks to the few of you who did donate), and as a result, October's donations came up way short of the hosting costs. If any of you would like to contribute a few dollars to the WATMM Server Fund, feel free to use the donation link on the main forum page (it's in the sidebar everyone likes to hide by clicking the "x" off to the right), or get something back by purchasing a Subscription package via your Control Panel or the Subscriptions link at the top.

50USD is not cheap per month, so any help in paying the costs is greatly appreciated. Obviously this post is not directed at any of the regular contributors to the site.

Any amount is helpful/appreciated, so don't feel you can't give unless you donate a certain amount - if everyone donated a buck or two a month overall, this wouldn't be an issue and perhaps things like the Live Downloads could come back again, etc.

When i read your pinned topic i had thought it meant that everything was ok, not that you needed more funds. Perhaps that was the impression that others got too.

Anyway, donate you scrubbers, or upgrade your accounts, it cost jack all really, in the scheme of things. Think of the hours you spend in here.

that actually sounds like a brilliant idea. first account is free and then any dupes are charged for. and maybe lighten up on the banhammer to make it worth buying a dupe?

No, order needs to be maintained, but if one could have an 'alternate' account, an alter-ego if you will, that the only requirement would be to never out yourself, I could see it working for those who like to do that sort of thing on forums.

The football forum is a bit of a waste of space. At sports forum would have been more logical.

No doubt Ceephax is awesome, but compared to Tom, he just doesn't have the musical pedigree/background/history that Tom does.

The Football subforum was based on the continual football discussion that was occurring around General Banter, and I thought it best to move it into it's own forum so people not interested in football can choose to read it or not, and those who are interested in football (as evidenced by the activity in the forum) can talk about it with their fellow watmmers to their hearts' content.

If I thought there'd be a continual stream of discussion, I'd add a Clark, Ceephax, Snares, LFO, DMX Krew and Bochum Welt subforums, as well as Bodgan and Global Goon - but then people would complain the Artist Subforums would be too diluted. Music Discussion was the solution to the "deserved to be talked about, but not enough traffic to warrant a subforum" problem. Seems to have worked out well so far.
