looking for gothic 8-bit

I'm yearning for a very specific type of music.

I was wondering if there are any albums or significant works video game influenced music that recreates the mood of a gothic, medieval or fantasy game. Either that or heavy metal influenced.

You know the sort of thing, tracks about wizards with heartbreaking melancholy and fragile square waves harmonising, then jumping to agressive minor tracks about fighting dragons over lava pits.

the only catch is, it still has to be good music. not just nostalgia.

have you checked the chiptune/8 bit covers of megadeth ect on youtube?

yeah, that's what made me think of it.

I'm looking for something official, like a proper full release in that style.

i once did a depeche mode cover using nothing but like 6 instances of a casio vl vst but i don't think that really counts. also i can't find it anymore :(
