Guest Karnov
I applied for a job recently, that is pretty much my ideal role - good pay hike, loads of international travel, great organisation etc etc. Found out today I've got an interview (date tbc) so have just gone back over my application and the job description etc to start preparing. At this point I notice that I made a typo on my application In my qualifications That makes me look like I got a better degree than I did. Do I: a) Own up, which while making me look honest, also makes me look like the kind of arse who makes basic typos and doesn't check his work. b) Keep quiet, hope they don't check, and run the risk of being seen as someone who lies about his qualifications on a job application The job is at an educational institution btw Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/61430-job-application-dilemma/ Share on other sites

Guest Gary C
Depends how big of a typo it was. I'd say own up, but only if they ask about it specifically. I got a 2:2 at university, but I've always had 2:1 written on my CV and always will. No-one will ever check. If I were making the leap from 2:2 to 1st then I might get into trouble, but then I doubt it too. And if they have a grudge you can be done for fraud too. My advice would be to fess up. Guest Franklin
remember that lady who was head of academic honesty or something who was caught after like years and years that she lied on her resume claiming she had a degree she didn't. that's was hilarious. I'm with XXX on this one. I would try to ride it and see whether they catch on. Guest Karnov
Thanks WATMM (ThaTMM), Decision made – I’ll wait until I get formal written confirmation of interview (it’s all been discussed over email so far). Once I have this, I’ll email the lovely Kate from HR, who in my head looks like Anne Hathaway, and ‘fess up. I won’t mention it at all after this – ie in interview – unless it is brought up. Level of degree required wasn’t specified on the job spec, so that won’t have been a deciding factor in interviewing me. Solo Strike
That is the best option.
