Selling Things Online w.o Ebay

I put an ad on craigslist to sell a synth. Guy who wants to buy is long distance. How is the best way to figure this out so:

1. No one gets screwed

2. Don't have to pay a middle man (eBay, Paypal) etc

Figured someone might have experience with this.

All long distance buyers are scams.

What those guys said, I'll add to be patient with craiglist... if anything does not feel right just wait for the next one to come around. Also, I always tend to mark up my asking price about 10% as haggling is inevitable.

Another note, try to settle on a price before the meet up... I have had two dudes who said , "I'll buy it, let's meet here [...]" and I get there and they offer some absurd lowball amount, in the end wasting my time and gas.

have used paypal in the past...for large sales though its pretty much the worst but i suppose this is the only way to buyer protection
