Sadly or otherwise, you don't necessarily need people on board to convey the impression of music which is made by a human being. So what I'm keen to get from these people is a sense of their own take on the ideas, and hopefully, bit by bit, them bringing their ideas to the table.

It doesn't sound like ANYONE else contributed, though.

What ideas did the "drummer" bring to the table?

Regarding Squarepusher interviews.... They beg the question....Why does he even bother? I mean his whole take on things is ultimately "the music speaks for itself". Hypocritical, no?

So why bother even talking about it or engaging with the press/media?

If its a marketing thing (which goes against his ethos, it seems).. he's being, hypocritical.

If its just a cerebrial itch... fair enough.....I mean i enjoy reading what he says but it contributes zero to how I view the music (which i love).....from old to new

I think in the end he just lives on-the-fly.. responds when he's in the mood, panders to the record companies nonchalantly and doesn't really have a solid stance either way.. ultimately letting the music speak for itself under a layer of random waffle that may or may not mean anything!

I actually like this overall appproach...the mad fucking genious that he is!

well, he didn't quantise him, so that's the drummers performance you're hearing... right?

The percussion sounds completely quantized, though. He said he hired a drummer to add a more human element to the sound and to get their input, but it really just sounds like Tom did it all himself on a 909 in 5 minutes. What's up with that?

I think he's making up these other band members so people will think of the music in the context of being played by a full band. It's just the way he's presenting it, not the way he made it.
