Main: HZ vs SAW 2 Artwork/Layout

I've always loved this album by Main, a beautiful epic collection of drone and deeply experimental, minimal ambience, drifting guitar tones and moods. It stands on its own. However the art has always intrigued me, due to its striking similarity in feel and look to Aphex's SAW 2. Although all the tracks are actually named, they do have a similar device of using symbols and Piechart-esque things to represent the tracks, although I'm not entirely sure if the symbols on "HZ" do indeed represent each track, I reckon they do.

What's the general consensus on this, a sly tribute, coincidence or something else? It came out about 2 years after SAW2 in 96, by which time SAW2 was already regarded a classic. I have the vinyl set of "HZ" and it's stunning.

personally, i don't like this artwork. even tho i haven't heard the music yet.

SAWII's artwork is warm and mysterious. i really have a passion for it.

Have you heard or seen the album? Much like seeing SAW2 pics online, it doesn't compare to holding the packaging up close. It's pretty lush, embossed on thick card etc.

I'm clearly not saying it's some kind of clone, the music is nothing like it but

I do find the similarities in the layout and style interesting.

Is every song in the album called [Kitchen Top]

Perhaps an homage, but it think it is different enough to stand on its own. Although I haven't heard this, but based on your description I really want to :)

I love the Hz box set (but sadly I lost mine), I much prefer it to SAWII.

Yeah, thanks Paul for reminding me about Main. I haven't listened to them in far too long. Going to rectify that tonight.
