This is what they call coldwave nowadays? It used to be an industrial sub-genre using sampled guitars...

that's american cold wave. french coldwave (vague froide) is different and it predates the samply metal stuff by like a decade. obviously there's a bit of a relationship there as french coldave and ebm are essentially sister genres.

absolutely love that guitar tone, early 80s english goth single coil goodness makes me weak at the knees.

thoroughly enjoyed the coldwave mix cd's and a lot of the suggestion that pop up here (this thread and others)

Besides the obvious things (finally got that Cardboard Lamb 12" recently!) and my weekly adventure into Black Monday (24 hours of this stuff EVERY monday on Intergalactic FM), I'm still a bit oblivious to this whole scene, so more tips are welcome!

Awesome, been getting into this sound lately through more modern bands with this sound like Trust, Cold Cave, and Age of Consent I'll definitely have to check this comp
