Guest Wall Bird
So lately I've been looking around for an application that will allow me to create an offline wiki. Essentially, what I would like is a decent no-frills word editor that will allow "hyperlinking" between all of my different files in the format of something like Wikipedia with a competent search function. Is there such an application? My situation is that I have an immense amount of writing, articles, notes, etc… that I wish to be able to consolidate into a single entity with a nice GUI. I tried to do a bit of research and all that I could find were applications that seemed to require some sort of server. In short, I believe I'm a bit out of my depth. Guest fiznuthian
i used to have a notepad like utility that let me write interlinked documents in a wiki format. it output them as html files, so you could easily host them online, but it wasn't necessary.. i used it for journaling dreams, worked great.. come to think of it, the program may have been an Ubuntu linux package. GatorGreen
You can use XAMPP to run a MediaWiki installation from your hard drive (or flash drive) just like it would be if you installed it on a web server. Guest fiznuthian
I still haven't figured out what I like so much about the wiki format. It's fun reading about any topic with all of the related connections to other topics. Seems to me to be an efficient way to learn material too. The brain is all about pathways and connections too right, one big synaptic web of sorts.
