i know we're all supposed to hate amazon.com now that they've refused to support wikileaks, but i just wanted to bring to light a really cool deal that they're providing for college students.

you know, i hate big oil and big pharma... but i drive a car and take antibiotics when i'm sick. it's not practical to isolate yourself because corporations have terrible morals. instead, try activism or petitioning your government or complaining on the internet (the last one is my favorite).

i don't think you understand how screwing over other people by, say, stealing millions of dollars through corporate greed is different than saving $80 by using a website that refused to host wikileaks. you can't equate those that have sold their souls for millions to those that want to save a few bucks. usually, nobody is directly fucked over by me shopping at walmart, but when (hypothetically) walmart chooses to cut benefits to pad their executives' paychecks, that's gonna ruin a few families.

I dont see why people condemn amazon. They remove offensive/edgy material from their stores all the time, they have no track record of supporting free speech.

With that said, what you do with your money is by far the biggest source of individual power in a capitalist society.

people are actually not using amazon because they didnt let wikileak use their servers? do the same people boycotting amazon also boycott almost every massive corporation in existence for doing something unsavoury? seems abit pathetic to me.

I still like Amazon, the UK branch anyway. They have sourced too much to mention over the last however many years. I don't think there could ever be a reason that I would boycot them.

if only all these books were available from organic elves who grew them on pure sunlight in the gumdrop forest of ethics, but I suppose for now we'll just have to bite the bullet and accept this inhumane bastardly awful bargain
